1021 subaru crosstrek limited

Since its introduction in 2013, the Subaru Crosstrek has earned high marks with both drivers and as a top safety pick in the compact SUV market. The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is getting major updates that will surely further secure its place as a top pick in the category.

What’s New?

All 2021 Subaru Crosstrek models will feature symmetrical all-wheel drive and active torque vectoring. This is impressive considering many compact SUV makers only offer AWD as an option.

The new Crosstrek also has a newly designed front bumper and front grille, with each trim level boasting unique details.

All trim levels include seven airbags for enhanced driver and passenger safety.

Updated safety features available on models equipped with Lineartronic CVT include:

  • Automatic Pre-Collision Braking
  • Lane Departure Prevention
  • Rear-Seat Reminder
  • Lead Vehicle Start Alert

Two Power Levels

The BOXER engine was introduced in the 2019 Subaru Forester and is available on the 2021 Crosstrek Sport—a new trim level for 2021—and Limited trims. The engine pushes out 182 horsepower and 175-lb-ft of torque. Combined with the standard CVT, the Sport and Limited trim levels offer an estimated fuel economy of 27 city/34 highway.

If you opt for the Base or Premium trims, you’ll enjoy the same efficient 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine as the 2020 model. This engine delivers 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque and you’ll have your choice of a 6-speed manual or CVT, which provides 30 combined MPG while the 6-speed delivers 25 combined MPG.

The New Sport Trim

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek ushers in the brand new Sport trim level. In addition to the BOXER engine mentioned above, this trim level will also feature:

  • Dual-Function X-MODE with Hill Descent Control with Snow/Dirt or Deep Snow/Mud settings
  • Updated exterior and interior accents, including StarTex upholstery, which is exclusive to the Sport model
  • Standard EyeSight Driver Assist technology featuring Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering
  • 17-inch alloy wheels with dark gray finish
  • Gunmetal finish for side mirrors
  • Floor mats with the Sport model logo

The Sport will be available in seven colors, including two new offerings: Plasma Yellow Pearl and Horizon Blue Pearl.

Pricing and Release Date

Pricing hasn’t been announced, but it’s likely to be in the same range as the 2020 Crosstrek, which has a starting price of just over $24,000.

The new Crosstrek is expected to be released before the end of the summer, but there is a chance that the pandemic may push the release date back.
