Subaru Loves Learning

Education furthers possibility. Through the labor of the Lafayette Education Foundation (LEF), Giles Subaru comes alongside LEF volunteers to assist countless students in Lafayette Parish.

Subaru Loves Pets

Whether they’re comfortable in our homes or in the wild, all animals should have the chance to be safe and healthy — Giles Subaru assists in the efforts made by the Animal Rescue Foundation of LA to help unwanted strays find a happy home.

Giles Subaru’s Love Promise Stories

Rhyan W: Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana Friendraiser

Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana Friendraiser. After 30 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana’s Great Acadiana Running of the Ducks gave its last quack in 2020. The signature event known for its large inflatable ducks and highly coveted prizes brought in more than $100,000/year for the organization over the last few years. The fundraiser is an event the whole community can get behind, with a $5 entry and a worth-while organization to support. In order for the event to be successful, we knew that we needed the support of long-time sponsors and prize donors, so we set out to ask for continued support. Giles Subaru and Nissan have continuously supported BGCA by donating a brand new car as the grand prize for the race. When approached about a new event, our friends at Giles didn’t hesitate! We are grateful for the continued partnership of Giles Automotive as they help us provide services to the children who need us most. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana has 6 Club location in South Louisiana, 2 Lafayette, New Iberia, Abbeville, Opelousas and Lake Charles with plans to grow. The Club provides afterschool and summer programming for youth ages 6-18, focusing in 3 core areas or Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles & Habits and Good Character and Leadership. BGCA’s mission is “To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” To learn more about BGCA, visit

Jeanine F: A Shelter Pet Makes a Lifesaving Journey

Acadiana Animal Aid (AAA) is one of the largest and most impactful animal rescues in South Louisiana. Each year our shelter rescues 2,500 shelter pets at risk of euthanasia and provides them with veterinary care, sheltering, and love on their way to an adoptive home. One such pet was Isabelle, a beautiful blue-eyed, catahoula/husky mix who was in our shelter for 255 days. You may be wondering why Isabelle couldn't be adopted in Lafayette, LA? She is the kind of dog who bonds deeply with her caretakers and enjoys other dogs, but has issues related to resource guarding - this was making it hard to find her an appropriate adopter. AAA staff worked with Isabelle to improve her behaviors, but she needed specialized training and a formalized behavior modification program. The longer she stayed in the shelter, the more her behavior could deteriorate. The AAA staff contacted nearly 70 shelters, rescues and training centers throughout the U.S. to find Isabelle the right program and after many days and countless emails, we finally found a program and team at Cincinnati Animal Care Humane Society. On Sunday, July 11th at midnight, after 255 days in a Louisiana shelter, two AAA staff members loaded Isabelle up in a Subaru Ascent and made the 16-hour journey to Cincinnati. There, she was met by an incredible three-person behavior team, led by Chris Van Wyk, and is set up for success. AAA has been receiving updates since her arrival and she is doing great! Isabelle's rescue, rehabilitation and transport took a huge team effort. Thanks to the kindness and generosity of Bob Giles and Giles Subaru of Lafayette, AAA's wonderful canine care staff, and the Cincinnati Animal Care Humane Society Isabelle is receiving the behavior work she needs and a kennel space opened up at AAA to save another dog in need. Without amazing people dedicated to improving the lives of animals and willing to work together, this would have never been possible.

Subaru's Share the Love — Dream K

Dreams Come True of Louisiana is a nonprofit who grants dreams to Louisiana children who have life-threatening illnesses. The funds we receive from the Subaru "Share The Love" program helps dreams to be granted. Being the past year was rough due to COVID and therefore no fundraisers, but yet dream applications did not stop, DCT was able to continue granting certain dreams that did not require restrictions. If you have never worked with a child who has a life-threatening illness, you truly have no clue what they go through, what they have to endure daily, monthly and some for years. Our mission is to restore the beauty found in the dreams of children!!! Something so simple as new pajamas, a laptop, a cell phone, or anything, which most of us takes for granted, means so much to these kids and to the parents, to see their child smile, to be happy. The funds DCT receives from Subaru's Share The Love goes to granting dreams and so many dreams were granted. DCT is very grateful for this donation and who reaps from this are such strong children who I call HEROES!!!!!The dream kids are so grateful for the great support DCT has from Giles Subaru, who also helps throughout the year when we need for certain situations. When we receive a "rush" dream and DCT needs a little help, we know we can ask Giles Subaru for help and this child will receive their dream before they earn their wings. For most families this is their only vacation they will every have; or their last time to be together as a family. I will leave with this: Hug the ones you love, take nothing for granted and appreciate the small things in life; for tomorrow is never promised.

Thanks Becky Prejean

Richard L: Reason I Chose Subaru

I researched my new vehicle purchase for a year prior to the actual purchase date. I became interested in the Subaru brand after research and when I saw how the company gives back to the community and causes they support. Last Fall my wife and I volunteered for local animal shelter fundraiser in park. Giles Subaru was one of the sponsored. Got to learn about dealership and vehicles. When I went to purchase my 2020 Forester Touring in March of this year, the salesperson and finance person were wonderful. Took time to explain the vehicle, Subaru as company and dealership to me. The sale was not pressured and follow up after the purchase was excellent. I am so happy I chose Subaru, I wish I had looked at Subaru sooner. Totally happy with the purchase and look forward to many trips and adventures in this SUV.

Jeanine F: Changing the Lives of Shelter Pets

Southern Louisiana is a close-knit region filled with warm and demonstrative gestures from almost everyone you meet. Community is an important part of the fabric of this area and Giles Subaru is woven into so many facets through its generosity and leading by example. There are many people and non-profit organizations benefitting from Giles Subaru’s philanthropic spirit – Acadiana Animal Aid is one. Acadiana Animal Aid (AAA), is a non-profit shelter in Carencro, Louisiana. Each year, we rescue nearly 3,000 shelter pets at risk of euthanasia from municipal shelters throughout the state. In Louisiana, where over 40% of all animals entering shelters are euthanized, AAA is a safe place for them to land while we find adoptive families or transport our pets to no-kill communities throughout the United States. We are able to save thousands of pets each year because of the commitment, dedication, knowledge, and generosity of Bob Giles and Giles Subaru.Giles Subaru plays an integral role in our efforts to save lives and promote adoption. Whether offering free billboard services to promote pets most in need; to participating in off-site adoption events to involve the community; to providing plush animals, tote bags, and food bowls for our attendees at community-based events; or encouraging its employees to volunteer at our shelter, Giles Subaru engages every facet of our community to support our organization and shine a light on animal welfare and shelter pets in need. Giles Subaru is led by one of the most creative, dedicated and philanthropically minded people I know, Bob Giles. Through his involvement on the Acadiana Animal Aid Board of Directors, our organization has soared to new heights. We’ve been able to reach more people, save more lives, and increase awareness about the importance of adoption in a state where so many cats and dogs are at risk. “Giles Gives Back” is an integral part of the Giles Subaru philosophy and it doesn’t stop there. Bob leads by example and encourages all of his corporate colleagues to do the same. So many non-profit organizations benefit from Giles Subaru’s commitment to making a positive difference in its community: Acadiana Animal Aid and the pets we care for are extremely fortunate to be included. Thank you, Bob, and Giles Subaru.

Becky P: Giles Subaru Putting Smiles on Kids

Dreams Come True of Louisiana is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit who grants dreams to Louisiana children between ages 3-18 who have life-threatening illnesses. When you work with these kids and see what they endure daily, your heart hurts and you want to give them some ray of sunshine. Giles Subaru has done this for so many kids. The kind donations we receive, we grant dreams and put on a Fashion Show where the dream kids are the models; the boys and girls have the opportunity to have their hair done, and the girls have makeup artist to their makeup. For most of our kids, this is a first for them, and we surprise them at the end of the evening they get to keep what they are modeling. To see the smiles on their faces is truly priceless and to see the parents smiling and enjoying an evening is so worth this event. I hear the kids say how they are so excited to have this new outfit, they know their parents can't afford to buy for them. Our kids' activities are so limited due to their diagnosis; so being around other dream kids, everyone feels equal and can carry on conversations: example - what meds are you on, when did you lose your hair, what you named your port, and so on. From the funds we receive from the fashion show, we then give our dream kids a Christmas Party where we feed them lunch, have arts/crafts, face painting, balloon clown and Santa arrives with gifts for every dream child and siblings. (parents tell us what their child wants within our budget). Parents meet other parents for the first time and great friendships begin; these families live in a different world from all of us -not by choice. I had one supporter tell me that he will support Dreams Come True because these kids did not ask for this like kids ask to play ball, to cheer, to be in the band, it was dealt to them. Giles Subaru is now allowing our dream kids to live their dreams, dreams that we were not to sure if could happen. Here are a few of many dreams: 1- dream child met Adam Levine 2- one girl went to New York 3- one little girl with Krabbe Disease needed a hot tub for her water therapy which was helping her tremendously 4- many Disney trips; the younger ones love to go to Disney I wish I had a Giles Subaru in other parts of the state. Bob Giles, Ryan LeBlanc and anyone I have worked with at the dealership are so amazing. In the DCT world, we never know when we will get a phone call for a rush dream and I know I can call Bob or Ryan anytime for help, not to many are like this. I, personally, and Dreams Come True of Louisiana is very grateful to have Giles Subaru support our dream kids. I say very often, my dream come true when I met Giles Subaru and his staff; who benefited - so many kids. DCT lets everyone know how Giles Subaru helps us so much and thanks to them we can do so much for the dream kids. More businesses should follow in their foot steps.

Thank You Becky Prejean

Scott S: Encouraging People To Get Outside And Be Active

The TRAIL & Giles Subaru partnership is a great partnership. The purpose of TRAIL is to build things to get people outside and active in a safe environment. TRAIL mission is to build and maintain parks and recreational facility and then we put on running, cycling and kayaking events to that utilize some of those facilities. The traditional Subaru customer has the same DNA that created trail and makes for a great partnership. One of our projects I like to highlight is our efforts at Acadiana Park. The Cajun Country 1/2 Marathon has taken place at Acadiana Park since 2000. In 2010 TRAIL took over the event as one of its fund raisers. In 2012 TRAIL purchased property to add Acadiana Park and working with LCG and staff from the Nature Station we build over 4 mile of new nature trails then we added a 10k trail run to the Cajun Country event. We still have over $300,000 of work to do at Acadiana Park and the Cajun Country run will be one of the funding sources. Giles Subaru will again be proudly present at the Cajun Country to highlight the overall support it provides TRAIL.Giles Subaru is the largest cash donor to TRAIL and that support is critical to the projects and events. I hope that we can prove that TRAIL provides a great method to reach out to car buyers and show a return on investment for Giles Subaru.

Russell B: Providing Shade to Triathletes

For the past few years, Giles Subaru has provided the CajunMan Triathlon with the use of their giant outdoor tent. This provides some relief from the summer sun and elements to the typical 400 participants and 300+ spectators.
