What's Involved with a Battery Service?

You bring your Subaru to our service center in Lafayette. We use testers to see how many cranking amps and running amps your battery produces. Depending on the battery and the vehicle you drive, there should be a set number of cranking and running amps. If these numbers don't match up to what they should be, your battery may be slowly dying, and we would suggest a replacement.

If your battery tests out fine, we look at the alternator or starter as the cause for the slow starts or stalls of your car or SUV. Some of the same tools we use to test the battery can be connected to the alternator to look for current flow issues.

We may also recharge your battery and then wait to see if the power wanes. If the battery and electrical system holds the recharge, your battery just needed a little pick-me-up. If the battery or electrical system can't seem to hold the recharge, it may be time to replace the battery.
