Utilizing the eight-speed CVT automatic with a manual-shift mode and a standard all-wheel-drive system, the new Ascent draws power from a 260-horsepower turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-4 engine producing 277-pound feet of torque. The powertrain offers a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds with a standard stability-trailer assist capable of pulling a speedboat or a trailer.
The engine offers sufficient power and efficiency for an SUV in its class, boasting an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 21/27 mpg city/highway. The new Ascent provides a comfortable ride free from the impacts of rough terrains with agile handling for relaxed and quick maneuvers at high speeds.
Design
The new Ascent portrays a family wagon exterior with tall windows, high ground clearance of 8.7 inches and a low beltline. The SUV features an Outback-inspired design borrowing its grille and forester taillights.
The three-row interior comes with a seating capacity of up to eight passengers. The new Ascent features an elevated driver's position and a vast range of seating configurations, including available captain's chairs for the second row. Inside the Ascent, you can find numerous comfort and convenience features such as tri-zone automatic climate control and keyless entry.

Other available infotainment features included as options or standard in the upper trims include an 8-inch touchscreen display, Wi-Fi hotspot, premium 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio and an additional pair of USB ports in the rear row.
Safety
With an overall safety ranking of five stars from NHTSA, the new Ascent comes packed with plenty of driver's safety features.
